About me
I'm Mandi, I've always had a unique love of Performing Arts and Technology, which led me down the path of Theatre Technician and Stage Management work in my early career! I was always the friend that was handed everyone's essays for a good proofread; and back then I enjoyed marking, so I thought I'd give teaching a go! I dabbled with a lot of ad hoc HE and FE work, supporting technical theatre skill development, until I bit the bullet and gained my PGCE in 2011. Despite being immersed in the Arts, my passion for technology never went away, exploring green screens, movie making and interactive technology in the classroom. I studied a Masters in Creativity in Education, but it was my NPQ on 'Digital Engagement to Improve Outcomes' that solidified the next steps of my career. My work led me to become a Technology Enhanced Learning Strategy Leader and I faced the cross-roads of growing within Senior Leadership or taking a leap of faith into the world of full-time education technology.
Why I joined Computeam
I worked with Computeam as part of my school leadership role, and during every meeting the staff I worked with held themselves with professionalism and respect, we had pedagogy fuelled conversations which related to my own methodologies of how technology should be implemented within the education system. When the role came up at Computeam I jumped at the opportunity to make a difference to more schools, further and wider than my corner of the North-West.

My first role in the Computeam
Computeam had offered digital training programmes for many years, however, my first role within the company was to take that offer to the next level. Exploring full digital strategy, pairing the training with the school and trust improvement plans, writing outcome driven metrics for improvement and ensuring that evidence informed data was at the heart of our training program. I was also part of the development team working on the BETA model of Learning Locker, our asynchronous training platform.
My current role
It feels like I've been here much longer than 2 years, but in these 2 years I've grown our training and transformation client base 262% and therefore grown our team of trainers from little old me to a strong team of 4 highly experienced former school leaders and educators. I now work with the Senior Leadership Team at Computeam, writing bids and procuring new training projects to keep the team busy, whilst talking at events to raise awareness of how Computeam's Digital Transformation and Training is a must have in the age of the DFE Digital Standards! I still get to run training sessions with our customers, and even get to work with pupils from time to time.
Training & experiences so far
Learning has always played a huge part in my life, however, there were times whilst teaching where it felt like training was dictated by outside agencies and policy. Since joining Computeam I have enjoyed the freedom of being able to explore passions and avenues I've never had time to explore before. CPD time is a luxury that is supported at Computeam and having access to some of the best software packages in the world, being able to have a play with what they can do and critically reflect as to how they can benefit our school users is a highlight of the role. I've had the joy of working in lots of different schools across the UK, discussing all things education with an amazing range of school leaders. Best of all our company events, including our annual Compumeet are a welcomed social aspect, working remote all across the country, it's an amazing fete of engineering and organisation to bring the whole company together for one day a year. It's not too bad when you get to win an award either!

Where do I want to be in 5 years
Who knows! If you'd have asked me 5 years ago, I wanted to be a Headteacher, but life throws opportunities, and I wouldn't change anything as it got me where I am today. In 5 years' time, I hope to see digital strategy within every school in the UK, and given the funding and importance it deserves for every child's future. That might be a tall ask for 5 years, but a girl can dream! I'm career and aspirations driven, so if I can play a small part in making the next generations future more bright with the help of 'Pedtech', then that's where I want to be in 5 years.
Outside of the office
Outside of work I travel, a lot! My husband was delighted when I left teaching, as we are no longer tied into school holiday pricing! Family is hugely important and travelling the world with my family is what drives me to the next adventure. I didn't fully escape the 'classroom' either, faith is very important to me, so you will find me in the local church every Sunday morning leading 'Kids Church' for our 0-16 congregation; being able to use my classroom experience to guide the next generation in this voluntary role is a pleasure to embrace. In-between travels and church you'll find me in the kitchen, pouring my creativity into making cakes and bakes for all occasions.
