Case Study: St Bernard's RC Primary School

Computeam helping make school networks more secure with ESET NOD32 Antivirus software

Computer Viruses are nothing new, and they have been a problem in schools for many years. However, as more and more of the curriculum depends on ICT the impact of a Virus attack has been steadily increasing over the past few years and Computeam has helped many schools to review their current anti-virus protection. While we like to keep an open mind at Computeam, we have no hesitation in recommending ESET NOD32 Anti Virus as our preferred product for schools of all sizes.

As an example of the impact that the right anti-virus software can have, we recommended a change to NOD32 software for St Bernard's RC Primary School in Manchester :

Our existing anti virus provider was failing to pick up various trojans and spy ware. This was later causing problems as viruses would start to slow our network down to a point where it was impossible to fully utilise our ICT resources in our classrooms.

Computeam recommended changing anti virus to ESET NOD32. After testing the trial version we noticed immediately that viruses were being detected, quarantined and removed. This has allowed the school to maximize ICT in the classrooms to its full potential, because teachers and pupils can rely on a responsive system.

Even outside the education sector, NOD32 is well thought of. A recent CNET editors' review said:

As far as reputations go, ESET's NOD32 is practically unimpeachable. Version 4 of the popular and effective antivirus and antispyware builds on that rep, emphasizing its community-sourced Threat Sense for preventing attacks before they occur, a slick interface, and some of the highest independently-tested detection rates married to low rates of false positives.

At Computeam we believe that technology should always be carefully matched to a school's key objectives. We won't sell a gadget or system that a school doesn't need. Instead we try to understand what our clients want to achieve before recommending the right solution for them.
